EMI has sued Cash Money
Records due to late payments
connected to Lil Wayne’s Tha
Carter III album. According to
XXLMag.com, the original suit
was filed back in 2009 for
“direct, contributory and
vicarious inducement of
copyright infringement, unfair
competition and breach of
contract.” The case was settled a
few months later, and Cash
Money made their first payment
of 1.5-million dollars to EMI.
However, the second payment
was never made, and now EMI
wants nearly 500-thousand
dollars in back pay and damages.
Cash Money reps told Billboard
that “Cash Money Records has
been in contact with EMI and will
be resolving this amicably.”
