BOSTON (CBS) – Red Sox pitcher John Lackey has apologized for a remark he made in regards to the team’s drinking behaviors of last season.

Lackey issued a statement Tuesday evening apologizing for using the word “retarded” when asked about Red Sox pitchers drinking in the clubhouse in a column in Tuesday’s Boston Globe.
