COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) _ Two University of Missouri student editors who resigned amid campus criticism over an April Fools’ edition now face possible sanctions under the school’s conduct code.
The Columbia Missourianreports (http://bit.ly/IE46Ct ) that the former managing editor and editor-in-chief at The Maneater have been contacted by the university’s Office of Student Conduct to schedule disciplinary hearings.
Abby Spudich and Travis Cornejo stepped down from the independent publication earlier this week as backlash over the paper’s annual parody edition intensified.
As part of the joke edition, The Maneater changed its title to a derogatory term for lesbians and included other sexually-oriented profanity.
Missouri chancellor Brady Deaton wrote a Maneater letter to the editor calling the content thoughtless, disrespectful and hurtful to many in the university community.
