(CNN) – George Zimmerman will be arraigned May 29 on second-degree murder charges in the February death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, a Seminole County judge said Thursday as Zimmerman made his initial court appearance.
George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch volunteer who fatally shot Florida teen Trayvon Martin, will make his first court appearance Thursday. Zimmerman was charged more than six weeks after the shooting.
George Zimmerman was slipped into the Seminole County Jail in Sanford, Florida under the cover of night Wednesday and booked for second degree murder.
Attorney Mark O’Mara says his client is stressed and tired. “He’s been through a lot with the way this case has been handled to date.”
Zimmerman’s brother says his family is devastated.
